Many people, including square dancers, have been affected by these disasters. Our first responders have been on the front lines for each of these disasters and, in some cases, have been victims as well. We are extremely grateful for all they have done for us, and we wanted to honor them in a tangible way, so we decided to dedicate one of our 5th Saturday Dances to honor our first responders.” The Associated Square Dancers of Superior California represents square dancers from a five county area of Northern California and is comprised of 15 clubs and 666 dancers from the greater Sacramento region and organizes a square dance every 5th Saturday.

GREAT GATSBY THEME PARTY
YORBA LINDA, CALIFORNIA
APRIL 6, 2019
April 6, 2019 – Members of the Orange County Sherriff’s Department, the Garden Grove, California Police Department, and the Department of Homeland Security (Federal Protective Service) enjoyed a Great Gatsby theme party near Los Angeles, California complete with roaring 20’s attire and a red carpet entrance all to raise funds to support First Responders Children’s Foundation. Department of Homeland Security Special Agent Thomas Smith reports, “Being that I am in law-enforcement, we decided to do a fundraising event for First Responders Children’s Foundation, and to make the party more exciting we did a 20’s theme Gatsby party where I also proposed to Lauren, my fiancée. We had about 140 who attended and had everything to include decorations, dancers, a DJ, and a casino. I have a few friends that work for the Orange County sheriff’s department, and I told their watch commander that everyone on duty in the city where we had the party was welcome to eat for free that night as well. I wanted to show my soon-to-be in-laws how close knit the law enforcement community was and that we were just like all the citizens we’ve chosen to protect. I also have two children who I would want taken care of in the event something happens to me which is why I chose your foundation.”
